– Most people do not fully grasp the complexity of privacy issues until they actually try to solve a problem themselves. In this course you will learn how to incorporate privacy-enhancing technologies at a whole new level
The purpose is to provide insights into state-of-the-art practices and technologies when seeking to extract value from “Big Data” backed up with tools to tackle both the technical and legal issues. By attending this course, you will get a unique insight into the cutting edge of how the evolving concept of Privacy by Design and gain inspiration for how your organization better identify and strike the balance between privacy and business needs, while still maintaining the trust of users, employees, customers and citizens.
In a world of “Big Data” striking the balance between complying with applicable data protection law and ensuring that the core functions of businesses and public entities can still be carried out to the benefit for citizens, shareholders and society at large has never been more complex nor important. Meeting this challenge means deploying modern technology not only to provide advance analytics and processing power but also to design solutions and support principles that can best be described under the heading “Privacy by Design”(PbD).
In this course participants will gain insights in to how some of the worlds leading businesses and processors of personal data approach PbD. The class is developed by former advisor in the United States Senate, and current Civil Liberties Engineer at Silicon Vally-based Palantir Technologies John Grant, along with the Head of Data Protection Unit of the Danish National Police, Christian Wiese Svanberg. Together they will provide practical cases and frame discussions around the concept of designing privacy.
The program will cover the following topics:
Real world cases showing how corporate and public entities have dealt with the dilemmas of “Big Data" processing of personal data
How to detect and counter insider abuse of personal data
A principled based approach to dealing with the issues that having near full spectrum knowledge of user behavior can pose to an organization
Demonstration of the current state-of-the-art in PbD
The program is structured to provide attendees with insights into the most critical factors of the architecture of privacy, which includes data structuring, analytics and data fusion meeting the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation. You will get an inspirational take on how to incorporate privacy into your data infrastructure and the latest trends. Legal and ethical perspectives will be brought into play to advance and broaden the knowledge of privacy and its benefits for both organizations and individuals.
The class is aimed at experienced players such as DPO’s, CISO’s, legal experts, Business Intelligence Managers, lawyers, and In-house lawyers who do not need a basic introduction to applicable law or the dilemmas posed by “Big Data”, but want to enhance their insights and understanding of the area.
