Oliver Patel is an expert practitioner, educator, and author on enterprise AI governance.

Oliver is Head of Enterprise AI Governance at AstraZeneca, a global pharmaceutical company with over 90,000 employees. He has spent more than three years leading the work to develop, implement, and scale AstraZeneca's global approach to AI governance, compliance, and risk management.

He is also an author, educator, and speaker. Oliver is a Faculty Member and Training Instructor for the IAPP's AI Governance Professional (AIGP) certification, and a member of the IAPP Research Advisory Board. He has delivered AI governance and AI literacy training courses to thousands of practitioners worldwide.

Oliver advises governments and international policymakers. He is a member of the OECD Expert Group on AI Risk and Accountability and of the Dubai International Financial Centre's AI and Privacy Advisory Committee. He previously worked for the UK Government as Head of Inbound Data Flows, leading the policy team that delivered the EU-UK data adequacy decision, and spent several years as a policy researcher at University College London.

He writes Enterprise AI Governance, a weekly newsletter read by thousands of practitioners. His book, Fundamentals of AI Governance, will be published in September 2026.
