Oliver Patel is an expert practitioner, educator, and author on enterprise AI governance. He is Head of Enterprise AI Governance at AstraZeneca, where he has built and scaled the company's global AI governance, compliance, and risk management framework.

His blend of corporate, government, and academic experience—spanning AstraZeneca, Holistic AI, the UK Government, and University College London—enables him to translate technical and regulatory complexity into enterprise practice.

Oliver is the author of Fundamentals of AI Governance, to be published in September 2026, and creator of the Enterprise AI Governance newsletter, reaching an audience of over 60,000 professionals across his LinkedIn and Substack.

He is an Advisory Board Member at the IAPP, where he co-developed and teaches the AI Governance Professional (AIGP) certification, and he advises international policymakers through the OECD Expert Group on AI Risk and Accountability and the DIFC AI & Privacy Advisory Committee. He holds a Master's in Philosophy and Public Policy from the London School of Economics.
